Tim Garlington established Portraits Plus in 1991 after he purchased Bryan Rockett Creative Photography Studio. In 1998 we built a 5000 square foot studio in downtown Ruston complete with extensive landscaping for outdoor portraits as well as a fully equipped photo-finishing lab to print the majority of our work. We are a School Picture based operation servicing as many as 65 schools in north Louisiana. We have been a totally digital studio for several years now and are an authorized Kodak dealer.
Enclosed is a list of services currently offered by Portraits Plus.
We offer two basic plans for school portraits: "prepay" or a "proof plan" with online ordering available upon request. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the photographs is returned to the school as part of its fund-raising activities. Commissions will vary with the "student participation rate".
Head & shoulder yearbook photos are taken in the fall with retakes being finished before Christmas. "Class Groups" and "Class Composites" are offered at the first of the year and "Spring Portraits" are available after that.
We have a great sports program offered throughout the year, with packages from trading cards to buttons to statuettes. To handle larger groups of up to 120, we have a set of specially made risers for separation so every players face will be seen.
We partner with Interstate Imaging to offer very competitive prices on yearbooks, both hardback and softbound, black and white or color. Everything is compiled on the computer with the free supplied software.
We utilize multiple software programs to sort and resize and rename the student's images for use with the PSPA compatible yearbooks, the JPAMS or OSCAR student database programs. I.D. cards, and thumbnail pics are available for the cumulative folders as well.
We offer many options with our photo-packages such as, retouching, black and white, and personalization with the students name and the year printed on each picture.
Teachers receive a free package of pictures as well as free class groups, and coaches receive free team groups.
All posters, envelopes, and publicity items are supplied to the school at no charge.
To handle larger schools, multiple photographers may be used so we will not interrupt the student's lunch time.
We have the ability to compose a "composite print" of the entire school with every students name and picture included. This is very impressive to display in the front of the school.
We are also available for other school events such as dances, proms, homecoming assembly's, and other sport-action shots.
Images taken by Portraits Plus can be resized and given to the school for use on their website.

Our staff consists of our studio manager with over 23 years of experience and a computer programmer that helps us with software and hardware issues. Our area is also rich in local freelance photographers that major in photography at LA Tech University.
I have over 28 years experience photographing schools and their related activities. In recent years, I have seen traditional photography move from film to digital and our studio has been very successful in making that transition to digital capture. I feel that digital cameras have improved our turnaround and our quality control. What I see changing most now and what sets us apart, is the software that we use to process all of this data. But important as all of this technology is, you still have to take a good picture, which is where my experience comes in. We are extremely proud of our work and hope you will be too.
